A beautiful cake for a beautiful wedding

So, I've been absent from my blog for a while but I haven't really done anything of much note, we were snowed in for a large proportion of Christmas, I will add some photo's at the end of my post for those that are interested.

So these photos are from a cake I made last year for my husbands best friend from school. It's four deep tiers with royal iced detail & hot pink ribbon. Beneath the icing we have: luxury fruit cake with brandy and marzipan; vanilla sponge with Madagascan vanilla Italian meringue buttercream & raspberry conserve; chocolate truffle torte with dark chocolate ganache and finally lemon sponge infused with a citrus syrup and lemon curd frosting.
We baked, covered and put the detail on at home and then transported it 3.5 hours away. We set it up on the morning of the wedding (which we were attending) and had two hours to deliver, set up, tie ribbon, finish the detail around the base of the ribbon and get ourselves into our wedding attire, it was a bit ambitious really but we just managed to get to church before the bride!

It was the most beautiful wedding I'd ever attended, set in an old barn in the grounds of a castle. We had the most fabulous time and the cake went down really well, the bride and groom saved the top tier to eat at home.

So here are a few photos from the past month, the snow was lovely and much to our girls' delight hung around for Christmas. Sadly I don't have hundreds of photos to choose from as I usually do at Christmas, I spent a lot of time caring for my poorly girls.

Playing with long exposures, not bad for a first attempt!
